Special Issue Proposals

The Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) encourages academicians to guest edit special issues on topics of common interest. These special issues, introduced by the Guest Editor, focus on specialized domains such as "Evolutionary Computation" and others.

Proposals can be submitted to the Editorial Board at jaai.editor@fcsresearch.org. A proposal should be concise, not exceeding 1-2 pages.

General Information for Special Issues
  • Proposals from academicians who are significantly involved and recognized in their field will be considered.
  • Proposals from esteemed members of the JAAI Review and associated Boards are welcome.
  • Guest Editors may opt to co-publish the special issue with JAAI. More information on global co-publication policy can be requested at jaai.editor@fcsresearch.org.
  • Guest Editors are eligible to apply for the JAAI Research Funding program.
Special Issues of Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence Should Offer:
  • Either an authoritative review of current thinking and debates in a particular area of artificial intelligence, advancing these debates.
  • And/or a presentation of state-of-the-art analysis within a contemporary field of academic interest, thus informing ongoing discourse in that area.
Special Issues Should:
  • Advance understanding of topics in artificial intelligence and its applications.
  • Provide insights into future trends and challenges.
Proposals Should:
  • Highlight the importance of the area and topics the special issue will cover.
  • Explain the anticipated contribution of the special issue in advancing understanding in this area.
  • Indicate the timeline for producing the special issue (paper writing, reviewing, and submission of final copies to JAAI) assuming the proposal is accepted.
Editing a “Successful” Special Issue

Once a proposal is approved in principle by the Editorial Board, it is the responsibility of the Guest Editor(s) to deliver the complete soft copy of the special issue to the Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence within the agreed timeline. Guest Editors must organize a double-blind review process for all submitted papers, ensuring:

  • Identification of papers to be included in the special issue.
  • Enhancement of these papers to ensure the highest possible standards for the issue.
  • Verification of accepted papers for any possible copyright or intellectual property infringements. JAAI will cross-check submitted research against the USA Patent directory.
  • Coordination with reviewers to develop comprehensive reviews of the submitted research papers.

The editors of the Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence require copies of all correspondence between reviewers and Guest Editors when the completed draft of the special issue is submitted to JAAI. Guest Editors should keep the JAAI Editor informed via email on the progress of preparing the special issue, especially if agreed deadlines are likely to be missed.

Once the final selection of papers has been made and the final versions (as per Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence format guidelines) of all these have been received, the Guest Editors should send electronic copies to the Editor. Guest Editors will be provided with special FTP access to upload the papers to the JAAI server system.

The editorial board of the Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence will check the quality of the issue before forwarding it for publication in the Digital Library and print version. The print edition of the special issue will be available worldwide through FCS university affiliates. The Editorial Board reserves the right to request a third review of papers and, if necessary, to request modifications to an issue before approving it for publication. However, the procedures outlined above are designed to minimize the need for such measures.
