Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying and pasting data (including images, etc.) from external sources without proper citation or credit to the original authors. The Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) has noted an increase in the submission of plagiarized research papers, not only from students but also from academicians. This creates a significant credibility issue within the global academic community. The pressure to publish in recognized journals such as JAAI and other prestigious scientific publications like IEEE and ACM has led some authors to engage in such practices, often without understanding the consequences.

Plagiarism of any kind is considered academic dishonesty and a breach of journalistic ethics, which can lead to serious repercussions. Since journals like JAAI are distributed globally, the misconduct of violators not only impacts their careers but also brings significant disrepute to their respective countries.

A lack of proper training and oversight has contributed to the rise of this issue. Many countries do not have effective regulatory bodies to oversee copyright activities within the scientific community. As members of the international academic discipline, it is our responsibility to educate emerging authors and researchers about plagiarism. It should not be assumed that everyone is aware of plagiarism and its consequences. Junior researchers must be taught that even if the original text is paraphrased or revised, credit must still be given to the original authors. They should also understand the benefits of citing sources. Citing sources demonstrates that the authors have conducted original research and have reviewed peer papers and previous works before drawing their conclusions. It also strengthens the researchers' credibility and shows respect for the work of peer researchers and their intellectual property. International education systems should incorporate anti-plagiarism programs to secure the future of scientific development.

Science and innovation advance by building on the work of others. It is crucial to respect and honor the contributions of authors and researchers in the scientific community.
