A core objective of the Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) is to deliver highly relevant and reliable technical information. To ensure the highest quality of its published content, JAAI has implemented a rigorous peer review process.
Starting from the June 2010 edition, JAAI introduced a peer review process. Researchers submitting their manuscripts for review and potential publication are required to review at least one paper within their area of expertise. Upon submission of a manuscript, an acknowledgment is sent to the author along with a technical paper for peer review. Simultaneously, the manuscript undergoes a thorough review by our extensive internal review/referee network. The responsibilities and obligations of general reviewers/referees are also applicable to peer reviewers, with a strong emphasis on protecting intellectual property.
Referees are formal reviewers whose comments and evaluations serve as the foundation for the Editor’s decision on whether or not to publish the paper, and with what revisions. JAAI requires referees to treat the contents of papers under review as confidential, not to be disclosed before publication. Referees’ identities are kept confidential to prevent direct interaction with the authors. The Editor's decision is based on the reviews received, but in cases of mixed reviews, editorial judgment is applied. Thus, the final decision to accept or reject a paper lies with the Editor, ensuring all authors have equal opportunities for publication.
Peer review, also known as refereeing, is the process of having an author's scholarly work, research, or ideas evaluated by experts in the same field.
