A preprint is defined as the author's original version of an article before peer review. Authors retain the right to make this preprint available on their personal website, their employer's site, or in free public repositories for preprints or subject-specific articles. It is recommended that authors acknowledge the article's acceptance for publication with the following statement:
This article has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) ©: [year] [owner as specified on the article]. Published by Foundation of Computer Science, NY, USA. All rights reserved.
Once the article is published, authors are not required to remove preprint versions but are encouraged to update them with the final published version. Where possible, the preprint notice should be revised to:
This is the un-refereed author version of an article published in [include the complete citation information for the final version of the article as published in the print/digital edition of JAAI].
Authors may archive preprints (i.e., pre-refereeing). Before submission to JAAI for peer review, authors can post their original work in any informal, non-peer-reviewed collection or repository.
A postprint refers to the final draft of the author’s manuscript, accepted for publication, including revisions based on peer review, but before copyediting and proof correction.
Authors may upload their accepted postprint manuscript PDF to an institutional or centrally organized repository.
When uploading an accepted manuscript to a repository, authors should include a credit statement (see below) and a link to the final published version of the article. This ensures that the definitive version is accessible to those finding your article in public repositories, increasing the likelihood of correct citation.
Authors may archive postprints (i.e., final draft post-refereeing). Authors can post the accepted, peer-reviewed version prepared by the author on their own home page or in any appropriate institutional repository. We encourage authors to include the complete JAAI citation and a link to the published article for proper referencing.
Permission to make digital or hard copies of part or all of the author’s work for personal or classroom use is granted without a fee, provided that copies are not made or distributed for profit or commercial advantage, and that copies include a notice and the full JAAI citation on the first page. For details, refer to the JAAI copyright transfer document.
