The Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) does not charge for page counts, color figures, or submissions. However, all accepted articles are subject to a mandatory article processing fee.

The article processing fee covers the following:

• Immediate, global open access to the full article text
• Inclusion of the article in all print copies of the respective issue
• Development and maintenance of electronic tools for peer review and publication
• Preparation in multiple formats for online publication
• Securing inclusion in CrossRef, allowing for electronic citation in other journals available online

JAAI uses a flat fee structure because the length of an article is not an accurate reflection of the actual work involved in obtaining peer reviews and preparing the article for publication. The Journal of Advanced Artificial Intelligence (JAAI) charges a flat fee of USD 63 per accepted article. Fees can be paid via bank transfer or PayPal.

Faculty (including emeritus professors) and current students of Harvard University are exempt from article processing fees. At least two co-authors must be affiliated with Harvard University to qualify for the exemption.
